Los Pumas Revamp Lineup for Crucial Showdown Against Springboks

Head coach Felipe Contepomi has introduced seven changes and a positional switch to the Argentina starting XV ahead of Saturday's high-stakes encounter with the Springboks in Nelspruit.

Following their narrow 29-28 victory in Santiago del Estero last week, Los Pumas are aiming for a decisive bonus-point win at Mbombela Stadium. To clinch the Rugby Championship title for the first time, they must also prevent the Boks from securing any bonus points.

In the forward pack, Santiago Grondona steps in for the injured Marcos Kremer at blindside flanker, while Juan Martin Gonzalez and Pablo Matera swap roles, with Matera moving to the bench. Pedro Rubiolo shifts to the No. 4 position, forming a new-look second row alongside Tomas Lavanini.

The backline sees significant changes as well, with Gonzalo Garcia taking over at scrumhalf and Matias Moroni slotting in at outside centre. Rodrigo Isgro starts on the right wing, and Santiago Carreras takes up the role of fullback, reinforcing the last line of defence.

Impact players Franco Molina, Lautaro Bazan Velez, Lucio Cinti, and Juan Cruz Mallia will be ready to make their presence felt from the bench as the Pumas gear up for one of the most crucial matches in their history.
